Review – Philips Hue

In this 2 part video review, we take a tour of the Philips Hue Lighting System. In my opinion, the best, most complete remote controlled, colored LED lighting system you can get right now, outside of a professionally done custom setup. They aren’t faultless, but they’re definitely a lot of fun to play around with.

Part 1 goes over the different hue light bulbs and strips I use in my condo as well as basic operation of the lights when used with a dimmer and on/off switch.

In the second video I show you how to best setup your controls using widgets in an iOS device as well as go over my 4 favorite apps for use with the Philips Hue bulbs.

If you’re interested in the Phillips Hue, you can pick them up on Amazon US / Amazon UK.

Note that according to slashgear, Philips will be releasing their 2nd gen bulbs, said to be capable of 800 lumens vs 600-630 of the current line. A 33% increase in brightness is not an insignificant figure. They’re releasing a new dimmer switch as well.
